Location
Villa Alegria lies in the South West of the island of Tenerife, in an area which was originally called 'Playa de Las Americas', renamed 'Costa Adeje' (www.costa-adeje.es).The closest airport is "Reina Sofia", 15 minute drive, but there is an other in La Laguna, 45 minute by car.
The landscape is mainly characterized by the presence of numerous palm trees of various species and by bougainvillea. There is always a cool, but pleasant breeze due to the Alysian winds which allowed Cristopher Columbus to get to the Americas without any difficulty. The Teide volcano which dominates the centre of the island and is 3718 meters, has luckily been inactive for a very long time, yet still influences the climate of the place. One of the main effects is that the southern area is characterized by more “African” temperatures which are rather uniform all year round – you can eat in the garden or lie on the beach even in January whilst at the same time enjoying the view of the Teide covered in snow...
